Privacy Policy

SnoreAlert is built to be private. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data. It applies to SnoreAlert for iPhone and Apple Watch and to SnoreAlert for Android (and its Wear OS companion); platform-specific details are in the sections below.

Summary

Audio is analyzed on your device in real time and is never transmitted; it is not recorded unless you turn on the optional learning feature (see Teach SnoreAlert your snoring below). When snoring is detected, the app sends a short-lived alert request containing an event identifier and Apple Watch push token so the notification can be delivered directly to the watch. No account is required; signing in with Apple is optional (see below).

Microphone

While Sleep Mode is active, the iPhone microphone is used only to detect snoring on-device. No audio is sent anywhere, and none is saved unless you turn on learning.

Teach SnoreAlert your snoring (optional, off until you turn it on)

If you turn on learning (Settings, or the invitation after your first sleep), your phone keeps up to 20 short clips of about 8 seconds per night, taken at moments the snore detector was unsure about or may have missed. In the morning you listen to them and tell the app whether each was you snoring. The clips and your answers stay on your phone only: they are stored in the app's private storage, excluded from backups, never uploaded, deleted when you answer, after 24 hours, or when you reset learning. Only a small set of numbers computed from your answers is used to adjust detection on your phone. You can turn learning off and reset it at any time. The backup file feature never includes audio clips.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app registers an Apple Push Notification service device token. When snoring is detected, that token and a random event identifier are sent to our Firebase function and then to Apple solely to deliver the wrist alert. The function does not store the token, event, or audio. Wrist alerts never depend on Apple Health.

Other bands and watches (optional)

If you choose Other band or watch, each alert is shown as a silent notification on your phone ("Snoring detected"). Your band's own app (for example Huawei Health, Zepp, Mi Fitness or Garmin Connect) forwards that notification to your wrist under that app's own privacy policy. SnoreAlert sends nothing else to the band or its app, and no audio or report data leaves your phone. This works the same on iPhone and Android.

Apple Health (optional)

If you choose Connect Apple Health, SnoreAlert only reads your sleep stages, overnight heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, breathing disturbances, steps, exercise, active energy and weight, to show them next to your snoring in your reports and trends. This data is read on your iPhone when you open a report, stays on your iPhone, is never written to Apple Health, and is never sent to our servers, advertising, analytics or subscription services. It is not used for advertising and is never sold. You can turn access off at any time in Health > Sharing > Apps. SnoreAlert does not diagnose or treat any medical condition.

SnoreAlert for Android

Microphone. While Sleep Mode is on, audio from the microphone is analyzed on the phone and is never transmitted; it is not saved unless you turn on learning.

Night reports. Your night reports (the times of detected snores and alerts, and how long each session ran) and your notes stay on the phone. They are not backed up to the cloud and are removed when you uninstall the app.

Wear OS watch. Alerts to a paired Wear OS watch go directly from the phone to the watch over the Wearable Data Layer. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Health Connect (optional). If you allow it, SnoreAlert reads your sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, skin temperature (where your phone supports it), steps, exercise, active calories and weight to show them next to your snoring in your reports and trends. This data is read on your phone, stays on your phone, is never sent to us or to any third party, is never used for advertising, and SnoreAlert never writes to Health Connect. You can remove access at any time in Health Connect settings. SnoreAlert is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any medical condition.

Sign in with Google (optional). Sign in with Google protects the three-night free preview on Android. SnoreAlert sends Google's ID token once to our Firebase function, which verifies it with Google and stores only a one-way SHA-256 hash of Google's account identifier together with a timestamp. The token, your name and your email address are not stored on our server.

Sign in with Apple (optional)

Sign in with Apple protects the three-night free preview and links your membership so it can be restored on another device. SnoreAlert sends Apple's identity token once to our Firebase function, which verifies it with Apple and stores only a one-way SHA-256 hash of Apple's app-scoped identifier together with a timestamp. The token, your name and your email address are not stored on our server; your name is shown only inside the app on your iPhone. RevenueCat receives a one-way SHA-256 value, never the raw identifier.

One account on iPhone and Android (optional)

If you link your iPhone and your Android phone (Account on iPhone, Settings > Account on Android), our Firebase service keeps one internal account id for you and, next to it, only one-way hashes: a hash of each Apple or Google identity you sign in with, a hash of a secret that stays on your phone, and, for ten minutes, a hash of the short link code you create. Short-lived counters keyed by a hash of your network address limit repeated attempts. No email address, name, report or audio is stored, and the code is never stored in readable form. This lets your subscription and free preview follow you between your iPhone and your Android phone. Delete account in the app removes these records; it never cancels a subscription, which you manage in the App Store or Google Play.

Backup file (optional)

In the app you can save your night reports, night notes and, if you use learning, the numbers your phone learned from your answers (never audio clips) to a file protected with a password you choose (AES-256 encryption), and open that file on another phone, iPhone or Android. SnoreAlert creates the file only on your command and saves it where you tell it to; SnoreAlert never receives the file or the password, and cannot recover a lost password.

World ranking (optional)

Off by default. If you join (Join on the home screen), SnoreAlert sends our Firebase service a random code made on your phone and three totals for the last 30 days: your snores, your hours of sleep and the number of nights. It sends no audio, no times, no notes, no Health data, no location and nothing that names you or links to your account. The server keeps only a one-way hash of the code and the totals, and uses them only to work out your place and badges, which only you see. You can leave at any time in the app and the record is deleted; it also expires by itself after 35 days without an update. Leaving the ranking, deleting all reports or deleting your account removes it. The ranking is for fun and is not medical information.

Data stored on your device

Your night reports (the times of detected snores and Watch alerts, and how long each session ran) and any night notes you tap are stored locally on your device for the History screen and are removed when you delete the app (or earlier with Delete this report, or Delete all reports in the Account screen). The alert service receives only individual event identifiers; it does not receive the locally stored report or any audio.

Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat processes purchase and device information required to validate your subscription. We never receive your payment details.

No tracking or ads

SnoreAlert contains no third-party advertising and no cross-app tracking.

Children

SnoreAlert is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
